Opnor Origin Story

Daniel Maltais began his career in pulp and paper where he took an early interest in efficiency and energy recovery projects. After a few years and a few waves of projects of its own, its division became the group's benchmark in terms of energy consumption per ton of paper produced. After a brief stint on the supplier side, he left to start a software development company specializing in real-time optimization of paper machines. After 4 years of development and marketing, the company was acquired by Johnson Corp. which is specialized in drying equipment.

Since 2001 he has been president of Opnor inc. dedicated to energy efficiency and decarbonization for large industry and various manufacturing sectors. The combined projects that Opnor has implemented over the years will have made it possible to reduce energy consumption by more than 2,000,000 MWh and reduce GHG emissions by more than 1,000,000 tCo2. The energy efficiency measures typically implemented have a high content in digitalization, digitalization of processes and increasingly based on the Industry 4.0 approach.
