Implementation · fixed-price · SEA eligible

The fix phase.
Pre-engineered. Fixed-price. Funded.

After the audit identifies the ECMs, we execute the ones that matter. Three productized fix packages — compressed air, motors & drives, heat recovery & steam. Scope is fixed before kickoff. Commissioning is included. Hydro-Québec SEA and ÉcoPerformance funding applied for on your behalf.

01 · Compressed air

Compressed Air Systems

Typically 20–30% of a plant's electrical spend. Typically 25–35% leaked.

Leaks, over-pressurization, and demand-side sprawl make compressed air the highest-ROI fix in most industrial plants. Our package handles the full system — supply-side efficiency, leak elimination, and demand-side controls.

ECMs in the package
  • Compressor sequencing + load management (master controller across multi-compressor systems, eliminates inefficient simultaneous part-load operation)
  • Leak survey + tagged repair (ultrasonic detection, prioritized by $/cfm)
  • Demand-side controls (zone shut-offs, pressure reduction, usage-based scheduling)
  • Multi-pressure system design — separate high/low-pressure loops where warranted
  • Heat recovery from compressor waste heat (space heating or process pre-heat)
  • VFD retrofit on compressor primary drive (where load varies)
  • Inlet air temperature management and filtration tuning
Hydro-Québec: Electrical portion fully eligible under SEA (Solutions efficaces). Typical SEA funding covers 40–60% of project cost depending on savings magnitude.

02 · Motors & drives

Motors, Pumps & Drives

Affinity-law savings on every variable-torque load. IE4 upgrades on replacement candidates.

The single deepest ECM category in the Opnor library. Pumps, fans, and blowers that run at constant speed against throttled demand are leaving 20–40% on the table. VFD retrofits pay back in 12–24 months on most loads above 7.5 kW.

ECMs in the package
  • VFD retrofit on centrifugal pumps, fans, blowers (affinity law savings)
  • Motor right-sizing — replacing oversized motors on partial-load applications
  • IE3 → IE4 efficiency-class upgrades on replacement candidates
  • System curve optimization — matching pump/fan operating point to actual demand
  • Soft-start retrofits on high-inertia loads (reducing starting current and mechanical stress)
  • PM motor upgrades on process drives (where warranted by duty cycle)
Hydro-Québec: Fully eligible under SEA. Large motor populations (30+ motors) often qualify for ÉcoPerformance project funding on top, reaching 50–75% of total capex.

03 · Heat & steam

Heat Recovery & Steam Systems

The biggest thermal savings live here. Also the most capex variance.

Steam traps, dryer exhausts, boiler stacks, and process-to-process heat exchange are where thermal audits find the largest $ opportunities. Implementation scope varies the most across the three packages — from $20K steam-trap programs to $500K heat-exchanger installations.

ECMs in the package
  • Steam trap survey + replacement program (failed traps typically 20–30% of population)
  • Economizers on boiler stacks (pre-heating combustion air or feedwater)
  • Condensate return optimization (recovering sensible heat + makeup water savings)
  • Flash steam recovery from blowdown or HP condensate
  • Combustion tuning (O₂ trim controls, burner retrofits)
  • Process-to-process heat exchangers (dryer exhaust, kiln exhaust, waste streams)
  • High-performance insulation on steam distribution and process vessels
Hydro-Québec: Gas/fuel savings eligible under ÉcoPerformance for facilities ≥10 GWh-equivalent thermal consumption. Electrical savings (e.g. on condensate pumps) remain SEA-eligible.

04 · How pricing works

Fixed-price scope. No change-order mill.

Every implementation package is quoted as a fixed-price engagement after the 2-week audit or a separate scoping engagement. If field conditions force a scope change, we flag it before touching it — no invisible creep.

Fixed scope

Quoted from the audit ECM list with capex bands already sized (AACE Class 4). Turn into a fixed-price SOW within 2 weeks of the audit delivery.

Commissioning included

Every ECM is commissioned and baseline-verified before sign-off. Handoff document includes the as-built model for EMIS to take over.

HQ funding handled

We submit SEA (Solutions efficaces) or ÉcoPerformance applications on your behalf. Funding lands before invoice. Your cash outlay is the net figure.
